New Cliff Walkway Launches at Graskop Gorge Lift Co, Promising Thrills for Nature Lovers and Adventure Seekers

Graskop, Mpumalanga – In an exhilarating addition to the region’s adventure offerings, the Graskop Gorge Lift Co has officially unveiled its latest attraction, the Cliff Walkway, which opened its doors to the public in early October 2024. This new experience is poised to captivate both thrill-seekers and nature enthusiasts alike.

The Cliff Walkway features a breathtaking, adrenaline-fueled path that winds around the cliffside, culminating in a stunning suspension bridge that spans the gorge. Visitors can expect awe-inspiring views of the surrounding landscape, making it a must-visit destination for anyone looking to embrace the natural beauty of Mpumalanga.

Spanning approximately 600 meters, the Cliff Walkway offers a 40-minute sky-high adventure. It has a minimum height requirement of 1.2 meters (4 feet), ensuring safety while still delivering the excitement of being suspended high above the lush forest below. As visitors traverse the walkway, they will also have the opportunity to gear up for an exhilarating zip-line ride that promises an unmatched perspective of the gorge and its stunning vistas.

The structure of the walkway is thoughtfully designed, incorporating sections that cling to the rock face and provide shelter under natural overhangs. Guests can gaze down at the Graskop Gorge Lift, which descends to the forest floor, immersing themselves in the captivating atmosphere reminiscent of Tsitsikamma’s enchanting forests.

Along the way, suspension bridges cross the Motitsi River, leading to picturesque views of a waterfall, adding to the magical experience. This combination of adventure and scenic beauty makes the Cliff Walkway a unique draw for tourists.

Billy Sibuyi, Manager of Masingitana Tours & Safaris in nearby Bushbuckridge, expressed enthusiasm for the new attraction. “This is an exciting time for tour operators. We can refresh our itineraries and inspire locals to appreciate the importance of tourism in our region. The Cliff Walkway adds significant value to the tourism economy in Mpumalanga,” he said.

Sibuyi highlighted the potential impact of the Cliff Walkway on local tourism, noting, “It guarantees to attract more visitors to this part of the country. As tour operators, it’s our responsibility to bring people here to experience this incredible adventure. In fact, I plan to book a visit for my family first to experience it for myself before incorporating it into our packages.”

With the launch of the Cliff Walkway, Graskop Gorge Lift Co continues to elevate the adventure tourism scene in Mpumalanga, promising unforgettable experiences for visitors and vital support for the local economy.
