Limpopo Tourism Agency top post filled at last after a full year gap

Limpopo Tourism Agency (LTA) has appointed its new Chief Marketing Officer (CMO), to head the Integrated Destination Marketing (IDM) Division after the position being open for over a year.

Modjadji Makoela has already occupied the post starting earlier in the week, bringing her 27 years of experience in the marketing space. She also holds a background in Stakeholder Relations, Human Capital Management, Communications, as well as Leadership and Governance.

Makoela worked at Executive levels leading corporate affairs and organizational support services for several years. In her previous positions as Executive for Corporate Services/Affairs, she provided strategic leadership, advice, and guidance in the areas of Public Affairs, International Relations, and Human Capital Management included.
She is a corporate services strategist with specialized experience in communications, marketing, stakeholder relations management, HR, and reputation management, leadership, and governance.

Makoela holds a Masters of Business Leadership degree with UNISA School of Business Leadership, Bachelor of Arts (Communications) degree from the University of Zululand, a Bachelor of Arts Honours (Media and Cultural Studies) degree from the University of Pretoria.

Further qualifications in Mokoela include a qualification in Total Quality Management Programme from the University of South Africa (UNISA), Certificate in International Executive Development Programme with WITS and London Business Schools and a Certificate in Executive HR Programme from USB Business School. Her responsibilities at LTA will include but not limited to the implementation of the tourism marketing strategy, tourism information services, conventions bureau, communications stakeholder relations, public relations and digital marketing.

LTA Board Chairperson Andrew Dipela said the appointment of Makoela was long overdue and that it would bring relief to the Agency after operating without the head of the core division responsible for destination marketing.

“We are excited about this appointment and view this as critically important because the new CMO will help jack up operations in the division in line with the mandate of the Agency. She comes with enormous experience from diverse backgrounds, and we have full confidence in her to lead the core division of the Agency to greater heights.

“We wish her all the best in her new role, and we are optimistic that her appointment will add value to the Agency. We plead with the entire LTA staff and the tourism industry to support her for the success of the province” Dipela said.
