The Gift of the Givers is well representing South Africa in Turkey and Syria as their search and rescue members arrived safely inTurkey and Syria on Thursday in a mission to offer relief from the devastating impact the earthquake had on both earlier this week.
The death toll is currently running at 21000 combined for both countries and the despite Turkish government officially requesting assistance after the 7.8-magnitude earthquake struck both the neighbouring countries on Monday.
The team departed from O.R Thambo International Airport on Wednesday with flying arrangements supported by the Turkish Airlines. they took with them a substantial quantity of equipment in terms of search rescue team and medical equipment.
The team also took along a light locator to help them track people who are pressed down by objects. The team is one of the various other search and rescue members who have also joined to aid the situation in both the two countries.
