Artistry JHB: good food, unwinding and entertainment

J Something from the house trio band Mi Casa, is not selfish to share his amazing Portuguese cooking that seems to blow everyone’s mind.  When he started out musician he always knew that in a few years later he would open a restaurant with a difference, one that incorporates both this three loves, (music, fashion and food).

Fast forward to the birth of one of the most hip joints in Gauteng, Artistry JHB, right in the heart of Sandton; in Sandown at Fredman Dr, Stand 2196 at 22 to be exact. The building was constructed in mid-year 2022, launched in the beginning of this year and has already got the buzz. This is no ordinary restaurant, but an immersive cultural experience.

According to J, this platform will celebrate the classics and showcase the arts while people dine on the elegant menus designed and prepared by his family. His greatest wish however is that his father is not alive to see his successes but finds solicit in the support that his live family gives.

“You know what is the best thing about Artistry JHB for me personally is that it all feels like I’m at home and my dining room is just a little bigger. The joy of home is in there, as well as the flavours of home. My dad would be so proud of my achievements, may his soul rest in peace. I am glad that I get to share all this with my wife, mother and brother who have shown me how proud they are of me, therefore, the feeling of family is definitely there.” he said.

Since its first opening, Artistry JHB has been on every one’s lips. With J’s resume, following in the footsteps of celebrity Chef, Gordon James Ramsay and also taking up his Something’s cooking on show on DSTV, and also collaborating with famous musicians such as the late Kiernan Forbes, famously known as AKA and Casper Nyovest.

This past weekend J was invited to the Splash Festival in Cape Town, where he did demo cooking for the audience to experience the kind of food offered at Artistry JHB.

“Cooking for me is a passion and every time I do a cooking demo I actually can’t believe I’m doing it. I went through a whole season of this food journey teaching people to cook and that’s not really who I am. I am learning still, but what I do know for sure is that I LOVE it. Getting to share with people the things I love cooking is such a blessing and all I hope is to inspire us to cook more because food is such a blessing.

“I really enjoyed spending time at the Splash Festival and it felt good sharing some of the dishes we do at Artistry JHB. I had a blast and I can’t wait for all of you to pop by and taste for yourself the love in our food.”

Monthly ‘flagship’ experiences at Artistry JHB include Artistry Live, a music event limited to 100 guests, will be hosted and includes dinner. These tailor-made events will showcase some of the best musical talent. On the first weekend the place was already pilling up.

“Our opening weekend has been so blessed. We decided to take things nice and slow and get in just enough people to make sure we could give everyone all our love and care with every step of the way. As we go and as we feel more confident we will open up more seats but for now hit the link in my bio and grab yourself a seat and swing by for some food, great cocktails and dope music.” Something’ said.

The entertainment at Artistry JHB does not end in just food music and drinks. There is also an outdoor cinema, a swimming pool, a herb garden and a bar that people can amuse over, as well as a 100 seater theatre.
